Change The Weather and Look What Happens

   Posted by: Lightning   in Uncategorized

Good afternoon,

Well as I have stated before I am trying to do better about posting so here goes.

This cooler weather sure has has felt good and I have felt good therefore I had a productive weekend. I have been working on a big walk in closet and I finally got the walls ready to paint, found out why God did not make me a sheet rock finisher. I started putting on the primer after I removed the wallpaper and pulled the facing off the sheet rock, therefore it sucked up the primer, so after two coats of primer and 2 coats of paint, 4 gallons total later we have a Butter Cookie colored wall. Saturday Daddy had put the cows in the barn and we separated them from the ones going to the sell barn and the ones we are keeping, then church on Sunday and practice before and after Sunday evening service, just a good busy weekend.

Monday morning got Abigail to school and returned home felling great, while I was brushing my tooth with my right hand I had an terrible sharp pain in my left lung area. It was not a heart pain but in my lung, so no fussing. I thought it would go away just as quick as it came, but it did not. I had to carry Abigail to the dentist and my lung doctor is in the same building so I dropped in to see what they though. They ordered a x-ray and made an appointment Tuesday for the results. The results shocked me because if the sharp pain was not there I felt ok. The results showed that I have pneumonia so I am grounded for a few days and loading up on high powered antibiotics and prednisone, so a few days of being lazy I should be ready to harass my family and friends once again.

Time to hit the chair again and be lazy, happy rainy day to you all.

God Bless You,

Pel

Changing Of The Seasons

   Posted by: Lightning   in Uncategorized

Good afternoon,

I sure hope you are having a great day and I hope you are looking forward to the cooler weather and to the beautiful colors God has planned for us this fall.

I wanted to post a quick note and let you know how much it means to me for you to take your time and check in on me. I am sorry for my lack of postings. I am still doing well and now I only get to go to Charleston once a year to eat shrimp and grits and oh yeah I stop by and see the doctor then also. In the past four years I have been blessed to learn the corner on which Shawn, my donor fell so I stop by there and lift up a prayer to Almighty God in Shawn’s remembrance and pray for his family, my family and thank God for my health.

The doctors are all pleased with my blood work, the last one showed everything right in line of where it should be, except for my blood sugar. It has been creeping up in the past couple of years and now I am on some oral medication to help control it. I have also tried to learn what foods are better and which ones act like poison to me and will spike me blood sugar level and put me to sleep.

Claire tells me my birthdays are catching up with me because I now have to wear reading glasses on rare occasions. You know if it is the birthdays catching up I am proud because if you remember my birthdays almost got canceled back in 2007. God is Great.

Justin has just started his second season at North Augusta Middle School as head football coach, Daddy, Deda, Abigail and myself traveled to North Augusta last evening to watch them whoop up on Paul Knox Middle School, final score NAMS – 20 and PKMS – 12

Abigail has just started fall softball and Tuesday night she got the game ball for hitting not one but two home runs, yelp I was a proud Daddy.

Well my list of things to do today is still look pretty long to me so better get busy, I would hate to lose my Mr. Mom position.

Have a great day!

God Bless You,

Pel

Chill In Possum Kingdom

   Posted by: Lightning   in Uncategorized

Merry Christmas my friends. The chill of winter is around and about us and the excitement of Christmas is in the air. Can you believe Santa Clause is already packing his sleigh! Well the past few mornings here in Possum Kingdom we have had some young snow (that’s a heavy frost) and some mighty cold temperatures, like yesterday morning it got down to 7.8F and this morning it was a balmy 11F. Well these cold mornings makes it a little more difficult to get up and going, so I take advantage of the need to do things in the house. Like what you ask? You know the Mr. Mom stuff and by the way the pay is way to low but the rewards are incredible.

Charleston has me going to labs once every three months and looking at the reports, my liver is just as happy as it can be, matter of fact everything is happy. I have to watch those sugar numbers they creep up and then I look at the scales and they went up. I have to keep the weight down, they want me to stay at 280 and I am at 286, so the docs won’t fuss. I have to go see Dr. Kopp in Anderson in January and Dr. Willner in Charleston in February.

Chief and I will be testing in January for our final test to become a therapy dog team, this test will be around wheel chairs, crutches, walkers, canes and of course people on these appliances. Chief says that as longs as they don’t get on his tail he won’t mind, did I tell you Chief is an English Bulldog born at Happy Cow Creamery.

OK it’s off to work now, you see Claire can tell when I posted this and she knows I am suppose to be on the clock so I guess I better get busy now with my Mr. Mom stuff. I hope you have an incredibly great day and remember to share the reason for the season with that person God puts in your path today.

God Bless You,

Pel

Time Lost In Possum Kingdom

   Posted by: Lightning   in Uncategorized

Well Good Evening,

I know this is a shock for most of us, but it is for real it’s really me writing again. First of all I want to say I am sorry for so much lost time. I guess one of the best excuses I can give is that I have been feeling so good I have not had time to sit down and write. OK, I know you are thing what’s wrong now, I can proudly say nothing, I just made myself sit down and write.

OK let me try to catch you up in a short post.

I hope yo had a great Thanksgiving as we did, we went camping at Calhoun Falls and had a great time and you should have seen that spread of food we had.

Me, I am doing just great, God pours out his blessing on me each day. I am still an active busy Mr. Mom, pay is still below minimum wage but it’s a great job. I am still busy with Atlantic Computers, so remember me when you have that computer need. I still go to Charleston once a year for a check up, that amounts to a drive down for some good ole Shrimp n Grits at the Charleston Crab House. Things here at the farm are going good and glad to see the rain. I have been busy with a new addition to the family, Chief. Chief, Abigail & I have been in training class most of the year from basic to advanced classes. Chief is now a Certified Good Citizen from AKC and we are headed to becoming a therapy team.

Claire has completed her BSN from South University and we are so proud of her. She finally hung up AnMed after almost 26 years with most of that being in the emergency department. She is now happily employed by Hospice Of The Upstate, Home Care. I never would have believed how happy she can be and how much stress is gone for her and us.

Justin graduated from Winthrop University in May with a teaching certificate, MajorĀ  in Physical Education and a Minor in Health. His hope of course was to teach PE some where and maybe get an assistant football coach. North Augusta Middle School hired him as the PE teacher and offered him the head football coach position, he accepted. The team had an incredible year, they completed the year undefeated and winning the city and county championships. He was also an assistant coach on the North Augusta Varsity team who made it to the third round of playoffs. It is still just him and his dog Leroy.

Abigail is doing great and making great strides in school but of course she has that pre-teen attitude. She has been playing fast pitch softball while maintaining her grades and remaining on the AB honor role. She is a Red-Neck, County, Daddy’s Girl.

Well the girls are in bed, Chief is snoring behind the chair and Sampson is wrapped up in a blanket, so I should put the boys to bed and call it a night.

I hope you have an awesome night,

God Bless You,

Pel
